This week the scriptures are calling us to Imagine Peace. As we light the second candle on our Advent wreath, the candle of Peace, consider the many ways that God has brought peace to you. We all long for peace. Some days we feel that life is out of control. There is just too much demanding attention, too many things to do, too few hours in a day, too many things to think -- or maybe even worry -- about.
But the Child born in Bethlehem is know as Prince of Peace. And we, gifted as we are with God's image-ination, can imagine peace, live in peace, and be bringers of peace. Come on Sunday to imagine along with your faith family!
And on Saturday, come for lunch! This week is our Community Kitchen from 11:30 to 1 pm, and Lani and Mary are cooking up a wonderful lunch for us to share together. Peace, as the song goes, begins with me, and where we reach out in community with our neighbors, peace develops and grows in the relationships built. Come sit with those who live in our community -- some hungry, some lonely, some just wanting a lunch with somebody, some just looking for a little bit of acceptance and a friendly smile, some coming to enjoy a place at the table with the Family of God. Saturday, December 5, 11:30 to 1 pm in the Asbury Fellowship Hall.
And if you haven't caught on yet, our Advent meditations are being posted on our website and Facebook as another outreach to the community. Please like us on Facebook and share the posts with your friends. Imagine how many people will be touched by the love of Christ if you just do this simple act of evangelism....
See you on Sunday!
