    Bring a Gift of Laughter

    Passage: Psalms 100:1-5

    Speaker: Rev. Vivian McCarthy, Pastor

    Category: Special Event

Keywords: joy, laughter, singing, thank you, thanksgiving

Come into God's presence with singing. This week we show our thanksgivings to God and learn about having a joyful heart when saying "thank you" to God.

Abraham bought himself a fancy new computer. He was showing it to Isaac one day. "Look at all the wonderful programs it has on it. And look at all the neat things it can do..." Isaac was impressed, but a little concerned..."But dad, I don't think your computer has enough memory." Abraham said "Don't worry son; the Lord will provide the RAM."

I have seen it written (by a 7-year-old): David was a Hebrew king skilled at playing the liar. He fought with the Finklesteins, a race of people who lived in Biblical times.
Well, we must be talking to the same 7 year-olds. Did you know that: A Christian should have only one spouse? This is called monotony.

Hey, I have it on the highest authority from a 6=year=old that Solomon, one of David's sons, had 300 wives, and 700 porcupines. Annnnd…Lor’s wife was a pillar of salt by day, but a ball of fire by night!

And I have heard it said that Adam and Eve were created from an apple tree, and Noah’s wife was called Joan of Ark!

Maybe you’ve heard this one: A little boy was waiting for his mother to come out of the grocery store. As he waited, he was approached by a man who asked, “Son, can you tell me where the post office is?” The little boy replied, “Sure. Just go straight down the street a couple of blocks and turn to your right.” The man thanked the boy kindly and said, “I’m the new pastor in town, and I’d like for you to come to church on Sunday. I’ll show you how to get to Heaven.” The little boy replied with a chuckle, “Awww, come on; you don’t even know the way to the post office!”

    Scripture

    Psalm 100

On your feet now—applaud God! Bring a gift of laughter, sing yourselves into his presence.  Know this: God is God, and God, God.  He made us; we didn’t make him. We’re his people, his well-tended sheep.  Enter with the password: “Thank you!” Make yourselves at home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him.  For God is sheer beauty, all-generous in love, loyal always and ever.

Then the congregation shared all the things that they were thankful for.
