    Call to Worship (Matthew 11:28-30 - The Message)
    “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

    Opening Praise “Rock of Ages/There Is No Rock”
    Rita Baloche

    Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee
    Let the water and the blood, from thy wounded side which flowed
    Be of sin the double cure: save from wrath and make me pure

    Verse (x2)
    There is no Rock, There is no God like our God;
    No other name worthy of all our praise.
    The Rock of Salvation that cannot be moved
    He’s proven himself to be faithful and true
    There is no Rock, there is no God like ours

    Chorus

    Opening Prayer (unison)

    God before time began, God after all time ends, and God of the present moment: so many of us are overworked, overwhelmed, and in a hurry. We often find ourselves rushing through life and missing some of your best work. Help us today to slow down and be present to you, for you are always present with us.

    Renew and restore our souls, so that we might learn to live according to the unhurried rhythms of your grace. We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

    Proclamation and Response

    Scripture Reading: Mark 5:21-43
    21 When Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a great crowd gathered around him; and he was by the sea. 22 Then one of the leaders of the synagogue named Jairus came and, when he saw him, fell at his feet 23 and begged him repeatedly, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well, and live.” 24 So he went with him.
    And a large crowd followed him and pressed in on him. 25 Now there was a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years. 26 She had endured much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had; and she was no better, but rather grew worse. 27 She had heard about Jesus, and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 for she said, “If I but touch his clothes, I will be made well.” 29 Immediately her hemorrhage stopped; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. 30 Immediately aware that power had gone forth from him, Jesus turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my clothes?” 31 And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing in on you; how can you say, ‘Who touched me?’” 32 He looked all around to see who had done it. 33 But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling, fell down before him, and told him the whole truth. 34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”

    35 While he was still speaking, some people came from the leader’s house to say, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the teacher any further?” 36 But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the leader of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.” 37 He allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James. 38 When they came to the house of the leader of the synagogue, he saw a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly. 39 When he had entered, he said to them, “Why do you make a commotion and weep? The child is not dead but sleeping.” 40 And they laughed at him. Then he put them all outside, and took the child’s father and mother and those who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41 He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha cum,” which means, “Little girl, get up!” 42 And immediately the girl got up and began to walk about (she was twelve years of age). At this they were overcome with amazement. 43 He strictly ordered them that no one should know this, and told them to give her something to eat.

    Verse 1
    He leadeth me: O blessed thought! O words with heavenly comfort fraught!
    Whate'er I do, where'er I be, still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me.
    He leadeth me, he leadeth me, by his own hand, he leadeth me;
    His faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me.

    Verse 2
    Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom, sometimes where Eden's bowers bloom
    By waters still, o'er troubled sea, still ‘tis his hand that leadeth me.
    He leadeth me, he leadeth me, by his own hand, he leadeth me;
    His faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me.

    Verse 3
    Lord I would place my hand in thine, nor ever murmur nor repine;
    Content, whatever lot I see, since 'tis my God that leadeth me.
    He leadeth me, he leadeth me, by his own hand, he leadeth me;
    His faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me.

    Verse 4
    And when my task on earth is done, when by thy grace the victory's won,
    E'en death's cold wave I will not flee, since God through Jordan leadeth me.
    He leadeth me, he leadeth me, by his own hand, he leadeth me;
    His faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me.
